How to catch a dragon

These are the best instructions for catching a dragon that I have ever read!  They are clear and numbered, and describe exactly what you will need and exactly what you need to do.  I can't wait to catch one of my own now!  Well done, Shai and Belle!

Fabulous fact families!

Here are some clever cookies!  In their maths lessons, Charlie, Jack, Olly and Nikola have been finding all the members of fact families.  Give them two numbers to add and they can find the answer, and then show you all four addition and subtraction calculations you can make.  Maths superstars!

In my garden ...

I'd love to stroll through Luke's garden.  There are beautiful poppies, sunflowers and buddleia and you can see them in his fantastic picture.  He has been very clever and used a chart to identify them, and he enjoyed telling us all about his drawing.  Great work, Luke!

The Gruffalo's Child

Amelia is DELIGHTED that she is a Special Achiever!  In her R.E. lessons she has been learning about things that are special, and she has drawn this a-ma-zing picture of her favourite character and his child.  Can you see who it is?  Super work, superstar!

Clever adding

Olivia has been doing some really grown-up maths.  She has been adding two-digit numbers by partitioning the tens and ones, and then adding them all back up again.  Great work, cleverclogs!

He'll huff and he'll puff and he'll ... smell!

That Big Bad Wolf is not a pleasant character and these folks have explained why!  Ethan, Reggie, Teddie, Ruby, Riley, Ollie and Lily have used clever things like adjectives and similes to describe how nasty and revolting he is to be around.  Great work, people!

Are you sitting comfortably?

Logan, Dovydas, Evie, Preston and Niamh have written some super stories and have chosen some really clever words and phrases to make their writing interesting for the reader.  What very grown-up work, folks!

To be or not to be

Have you ever wondered whether Diss should have an airport?  Well, if you are undecided you only need to read these persuasive arguments and you will be convinced that it is a bad idea.  Well done Kai and Izzy for some very clever tricks including questions and exclamations.

The Way Back Home

Squirrels have been writing their own versions of 'The Way Back Home' about Boy meeting different characters in different settings and solving different problems.  Abi, Luke, Charlie and Chloe have used wonderful words and phrases to interest the reader and they have followed their story plans so carefully.  Great work, folks!

No wonder Abi is feeling so pleased with herself!  She started by thinking of some questions to ask Boy from 'The Way Back Home', next she chose the best to include in her letter and finally she improved the way the questions were asked.  This has resulted in a lovely letter than shows some good imagination.  Well done, Abi!

Did you know ...?

Multiplication Magic!

We have another mathematical genius in school!  Harry has done some fabulous multiplication work this week.  No wonder Mrs Kineavy is proud of him!

A poet in the making

Izzy has shown a real flair for writing poetry.  She has chosen some amazing adjectives and imaginative phrases to describe different colours and how we use our senses on Bonfire Night.  These are beautiful poems Izzy - clever lass!

Poor Wide-Eyed Bear!

Callum, Daniel, Nicole and Chloe have all completed far more work than was expected of them.  They have each used interesting adjectives in their re-telling of the story of the Wide-Eyed Bear, and are showing that they have learned some very grown-up phrases.  Well done, folks!

The worst night of their lives!

You would really feel as if you had been in the Great Fire of London yourself if you had read Isobel, Kevin, Connor, Harry, Eleanor, Lexi or Justin's account of that terrible night in September 1666.  Superb vocabulary choices and a variety of sentence starters really helped to add to the suspense and describe how frightened people were.  Well done, folks!

Kellen's first piece of fabulous work was a description of everything he would need to take to St Lucia with him, and he used what he has learned about the island to explain why.  Then he has written a fantastic letter to convince me that the whole class should be allowed to visit the island.  I'll just have to ask the governors ...!

If you weren't sure where to go on holiday, you only need to read these eye-catching brochures Codie, Thomas, Sammy and Harley have created for the Sri Lankan Tourist Board.  They have use effective illustrations, interesting facts and excellent vocabulary choices to persuade people that this beautiful island is the perfect destination.  Well done, you superstars!

Using a number line

Hamza has shown how good he is at using number lines to work out additions and subtractions.  Mrs Kineavy was so pleased that he worked all by himself to solve these problems.  Great work, Hamza!

Perfect Portraits

Kevin, Sammy, Mason and Codie have worked very hard on all the different parts of these wonderful portraits.  They have used different media in each section of the background, studied their shoes to inspire their pattern-making, mixed paint colours and included lots of detail.  Super pictures, well done!

What stunning journal entries Katie, Aidan and Harry produced.  They made amazing vocabulary choices in their accounts about Grace Darling to make their writing so interesting to read.  Well done, folks!
