How to catch a dragon

Fabulous fact families!
Here are some clever cookies! In their maths lessons, Charlie, Jack, Olly and Nikola have been finding all the members of fact families. Give them two numbers to add and they can find the answer, and then show you all four addition and subtraction calculations you can make. Maths superstars!

In my garden ...
I'd love to stroll through Luke's garden. There are beautiful poppies, sunflowers and buddleia and you can see them in his fantastic picture. He has been very clever and used a chart to identify them, and he enjoyed telling us all about his drawing. Great work, Luke!

Clever adding

That Big Bad Wolf is not a pleasant character and these folks have explained why! Ethan, Reggie, Teddie, Ruby, Riley, Ollie and Lily have used clever things like adjectives and similes to describe how nasty and revolting he is to be around. Great work, people!

The Way Back Home
Squirrels have been writing their own versions of 'The Way Back Home' about Boy meeting different characters in different settings and solving different problems. Abi, Luke, Charlie and Chloe have used wonderful words and phrases to interest the reader and they have followed their story plans so carefully. Great work, folks!

No wonder Abi is feeling so pleased with herself! She started by thinking of some questions to ask Boy from 'The Way Back Home', next she chose the best to include in her letter and finally she improved the way the questions were asked. This has resulted in a lovely letter than shows some good imagination. Well done, Abi!

Squirrels have been learning such a lot about tigers this half term, and they have made fabulous models and fascinating fact sheets to show what they have found out and how much they have been enjoying this topic. A poet in the making

Poor Wide-Eyed Bear!

The worst night of their lives!
You would really feel as if you had been in the Great Fire of London yourself if you had read Isobel, Kevin, Connor, Harry, Eleanor, Lexi or Justin's account of that terrible night in September 1666. Superb vocabulary choices and a variety of sentence starters really helped to add to the suspense and describe how frightened people were. Well done, folks!

Happy holidays!
Kellen's first piece of fabulous work was a description of everything he would need to take to St Lucia with him, and he used what he has learned about the island to explain why. Then he has written a fantastic letter to convince me that the whole class should be allowed to visit the island. I'll just have to ask the governors ...!

Perfect Portraits
Kevin, Sammy, Mason and Codie have worked very hard on all the different parts of these wonderful portraits. They have used different media in each section of the background, studied their shoes to inspire their pattern-making, mixed paint colours and included lots of detail. Super pictures, well done!
