Hot off the press

This is an amazing piece of work from Skyla.  She has met all the success criteria in writing a most effective newspaper report about the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb, and Miss Leftley and I were particularly impressed by her use of punctuation.  Well done you!

Poor Monty!

There is no way anyone could resist the request Sophie and Rosie have made to Santa.  Poor Monty desperately wants a friend and after Santa has read their persuasive letters, he is bound to grant their wish!  Super pieces of work, girls!

Mr Santy has been very sneaky with his success criteria for this piece of work, but Caitlin has managed to meet all 10 points when writing a newspaper report about the discovery of King Tut's tomb.  This is very convincing writing, Caitlin, and I really felt I was reading news that was hot off the press.  Well done you!

Lucky Readers!

Now wonder these folks are looking so proud of themselves.  Their writing about 'The Lucky Dip' film clip they watched shows what great imaginations they have.  They have all used some fantastic vocabulary to make the reader want to find out what happens.  Well done Evie, Justin, Zach and Charlie!

Down in the woods

Here's a young lady who has really liked jumping in the mud! Isobel has LOVED Roydon Fen and worked hard to take part in every activity on offer over the last few weeks.  She especially enjoyed learning how to light a fire safely and, of course, toasting marshmallows!  We are delighted that you got so much out of Forest Schools, Isobel.

Fit for a Pharaoh!

If you ever need to build a pyramid, these are the chaps you need to see!  Dylan and Erhan have used Book Creator on the iPads to compile a list of clear and detailed instructions about the steps you need to take to build and finish a burial site fit for a pharaoh!  A brilliant illustration of your learning, boys - well done!

Bullseye!

Amy has shown us all what a genius she is when it comes to 'dart subtraction'.  Starting with 101, she had to show that she could take away numbers until she reached zero, and she can explain exactly how to do this using a number line.  She can even work the calculations out by partitioning, too.  Well done, brainbox!

High drama!

We have all been very impressed by Jack's writing over the last few weeks and his story about a runaway tractor shows just what a clever man he is.  His spelling is so good that you can read every word of his exciting story.  I just feel sorry for all those poor animals!  Fantastic work, Jack!

Anglo-Saxon recounts

You can tell by their recounts how much Mason, Sam and Max enjoyed their visit to West Stow.  They all included detail about the activities, time connectives to show the order of events, and they even showed that they can write a sentence containing 'so'.  Great work, lads!

A poet in the making

Izzy has shown a real flair for writing poetry.  She has chosen some amazing adjectives and imaginative phrases to describe different colours and how we use our senses on Bonfire Night.  These are beautiful poems Izzy - clever lass!

Perfect project!

This is a beautiful project that Isla has produced about her favourite dinosaur - Stegosaurus.  It is neatly laid out, and contains informative text, a variety of pictures and accurate diagrams.  It ticked every one of the success criteria and was most interesting to read.  A fabulous piece of work, Isla!

Dear King Hrothgar ...

I don't know who to choose!  Gracie, Zach, Matthew, Bradley and Aoife have all written to King Hrothgar to explain why they should be chosen to slay Grendel.They have each included sound reasons, great vocabulary choices and paragraphs.  Well done, superstars!

Poor Wide-Eyed Bear!

Callum, Daniel, Nicole and Chloe have all completed far more work than was expected of them.  They have each used interesting adjectives in their re-telling of the story of the Wide-Eyed Bear, and are showing that they have learned some very grown-up phrases.  Well done, folks!

Big diaries about Little Canada

It is quite clear from the hugely detailed diaries that Luke, Ben and James have created that they enjoyed almost(!) every minute of their week at Little Canada.  They have used some interesting phrases that make their accounts really personalised,  Fantastic work, lads!

The Giant Worm!

After reading the story of Beowulf, Amber has written her own version, including a monster and a hero.  She has used some lovely phrases and imaginative adjectives to produce a beautifully illustrated story.  A lovely read, Amber!

A wonderful week!

Reading their Little Canada diaries, you can certainly tell that they had an incredible and memorable time.  They put in a huge amount of time and effort to include so much detail that you really feel like you were there with them when you read it.  What a great momento to remind you of a fabulous week!  Superb piece of homework - well done!

Budding authors!

It is hard to remember that Riley, Sam, Belle, Alfie, Riley, Harry, Elle, James and Phoebe are only in Year 2.  They have each written a story to describe the film clip 'My Morning Jacket' and have chosen some superb time words, amazing adjectives and creative phrases to describe the drama of what happened.  Fantastic work!

Lily looked very carefully in a mirror so that she could paint this incredibly accurate self-portrait.  The colours are so well chosen, I thought it was a photograph when I first saw it!  Super work, Lily!

Amazing algebra!

Qing has amazed Miss Leftley by how quickly he has understood what algebra is all about.  In the first lesson he managed a whole page of calculations independently, and can talk about what he did and why.  Great news, Qing!

Additionally brilliant!

Adam has been working REALLY hard on his addition.  He can now add three-digit numbers easily and independently and his teachers and teaching assistants are delighted with what he has achieved.  Well done, Adam!

As creative as ...

Although Jake recognises that writing isn't 'his strong point', he has come up with some amazing similes and examples of personification.  What a creative start to the year, Jake!  The only way is up so keep up the good work!

Dinosaur dioramas

Spencer, Logan, Yasmine and Laylah really enjoyed making these moving diroamas.  Their models explain three possible reasons why the dinosaurs became extinct, and their attention to detail shows how much they enjoyed creating them.  Super work, folks!

Incy Wincy Spider

What a super idea these spiders in their webs are!  Lilli, Alfie, Charlie, Brandon and Gabriel had to prepare their plate, paint their spider (with 8 legs!), thread the wool and then stick on the eyes.  Well done, people, for some really effective pieces of art work!

Marvellous minibeats

Kal-El, Lacey, Autumn, Esmee, Gracie, Jack, Jack and Elsa have been very busy designing and creating these beautiful felt minibeasts.  I am impressed by how closely they have paid attention to the detail of their plan and how their decoration matches their original ideas.  Brilliant work!

Property Section

If you fancy buying a Tudor house, you really need to read these sales pitches!  Morgan, Yasmine, Natalie, Rudi and Edward's use of estate agent jargon is superb and anyone of these properties sounds like an absolute bargain!  Just need to save up some groats!  Well done, folks!

Trying Tudor Times

What a detailed account of the trip to Kentwell Hall Reuben has written!  It almost felt like I had spent the day with him!  He used some lovely time vocabulary to describe the sequence of events as well.  Great effort, Reuben!

Crucial in a crisis!

Henry impressed the leaders of the Year 6 Crucial Crew training with his wide knowledge about what to do in different emergency situations.  He is definitely the person to have with you if you smell gas or are trapped in a fire.  What a knowledgeable gentleman you are!

Would you rather ...?

These mathematical geniuses do not make life easy!  their percentage Powerpoint presentations really tax the old brain cells in working out how many elephants you want to be trampled by, or how many times you want to be shot, or how many slugs you want in your underwear!  A really entertaining piece of work, folks!

Not so revolting after all!

Ethan really enjoyed writing and published his revolting rhyme.  It is rather gruesome with the wolf losing his head, but there are some very clever rhymes in there.  What a great bedtime story for you to keep, Ethan!  Great work!

The next Novak?

Mrs Davies was very impressed with Zach's tennis skills this week.  He showed her how carefully he can use a racquet to hit a ball accurately back to his partner.  I think we need to watch out for hm at Wimbledon soon!  Well done, Zach!

Tudor portraits

These Tudor pictures are AMAZING!  Erhan and Wiktoria worked particularly hard to make their portraits the very best they could, and you certainly can tell who they are.  Very effective pieces of art work, folks!

Buenos días

Even Mr Castro is pleased with Jake's Spanish.  Mr Castro tried to catch the children out by changing the words he was using, but Jake was just too quick for him.  He has shown that he has paid attention in his lessons and it is paying off.  Good news indeed!

Skyla's speech!

Skyla's English set couldn't think of any ways that she would be able to improve her presentation.  She talks very knowledgeably and confidently about her skiing and is obviously proud of her achievements and skills.  Brilliant, Skyla!

Perfect percentages

Ruby, Callum and Liam have impressed Miss Stannard by their brilliant calculation of percentages.  They carried out one- and two-step problems to show they have a really good understanding of how to work these out.  Superb work!

Minibeast mini-project!

Lucas has been so interested in Hedgehogs' work about minibeasts that he decided to carry out some research on the internet at home.  He has copied and pasted lots of pictures to make this beautiful project.  Great work, Lucas!

Poor Miss Stannard

In Ben's report, Miss Stannard had already suggested that his next step in maths should be to practise calculating percentages.  Now she has got to rewrite that section because he whizzed through two sides of word problems and showed that he is a percentage genius.  Well done you!

Artistic Tallent!!

I don't think there's any doubt which is the better piece of artwork!  Matisse's representation of a snail inspired Ruby to use torn pieces of paper to create this picture of Greedy, the class pet.  I reckon it could sell for millions.  Well done, Ruby!

Where in the world ...?

Well, you learn something new every day!  Millie has convinced me to holiday in Kefalonia this year even though I'd never heard of this beautiful island.  Her clever sales pitch, amazing descriptions and superb pictures make her brochure irresistible.  Great work, Millie!

Unaccustomed as I am ...!

What an eloquent young man we have here!  Miss Stannard was exceedingly impressed by the standard of Joseph's presentation about squash (the sport, not the drink!).  He put a lot of time and thought into the planning and preparation, and then delivered his talk using prompt cards.  You showed a great level of confidence, Joseph, well done!

A read a day ...

This really is the most perfect example of teamwork!  At the beginning of the year, Caitlin asked for some extra help with her reading and was paired up with Emily.  Whatever has been going on in school they have made it their priority to read EVERY SINGLE DAY, and Caitlin's reading has come on in leaps and bounds.  Well done, girls, for taking this so seriously!
